The woodland gardens at Ramster were laid out at the beginning of the last century by Gauntlett Nurseries of Chiddingfold, and have now been owned by the same family for 80 years.  Now a mature flowering shrub garden of over 20 acres, it is full of unusual and interesting plants which flourish under the canopy of oaks and larches.

In April, sheets of daffodils cover the ground; camellias, magnolias and early flowering rhododendrons, with gently, subtle colouring take centre stage.

In May, the brilliant display of rhododendrons and azaleas is at its best, while a carpet of bluebells fills the air with scent and the ever-changing colours of the garden are reflected in the pond.

The Millennium Garden with its dramatic raised beds is in full colour in June and with the waterfall playing, makes a charming place in which to sit and rest. .

The Woodland Walks leading to the lake are cool and inviting.

The Bog Garden with its giant gunneras and tree ferns hides a secret trail winding its way under the giant leaves.

At the top of the Garden, Ant Wood hosts the unique collection of hardy hybrid rhododendron, sponsored by the Rhododendron, Camellia and Magnolia Group of the Royal Horticultural Society.
